Daylesford Visitor Information

Daylesford is a spectacular town situated on a ridge which is over 600 metres above sea-level. It is located 111 km north-west of Melbourne and 45 km north-east of Ballarat. The mountain scenery, forestry and recreation areas contribute to the town's relaxing air.

Daylesford is easy to get to and easy to travel around. As soon as you arrive you will be impressed by both the beauty of the landscape and the variety of things to do.

Daylesford is a major town located within a region that contains Australia's largest concentration of natural mineral springs which flow continually from the 72 springs throughout the area.

Many grand and historical buildings are well preserved in Daylesford, dating back to the town's former gold mining days in the 1800s.

The town is surrounded by scenic hills, forests and numerous lakes, the largest and most popular being Lake Daylesford, situated adjacent to the town's commercial centre. Lake Daylesford is surrounded by an attractive reserve, particularly colourful in autumn, and includes a number of walking tracks, mineral springs, jetties, BBQs and picnic areas.

Other attractions within the town include the Wombat Hill Botanical Gardens and lookout tower, the Convent Gallery, and the railway musuem.

The mineral waters, crisp clean air, forest, and abundance of holistic healers has long been a popular destination for visitors to relax and heal their aching bodies.
